NorthRidge shopping center was originally constructed in the early 1980’s. Over the years, the building has seen its fair share of updates and modifications, and elements tend to get hidden or lost over time. Several of those items were discovered during construction of the Tide Drycleaners Renovation project completed in 2015. A lost stair to the Lower Level was discovered under the slab, just beneath the area slated for some new, heavy, pressing equipment. Rated demising walls were found to be constructed insufficiently. And rust seemed to consume large portions of the steel roof decking.
Regardless, the design and construction team navigated those hurdles to deliver a successful renovation project that is now providing a necessary and sustainable service to the surrounding area. It has also greatly improved the architecture of this shopping center.
