Working with Gontram Architecture
Gontram Architecture was established in 1998 to provide clients with a more flexible delivery of architectural services, emphasizing cost control, contract administration and design excellence. We provide services that meet schedules, and design projects within budget. We realize the client’s interests and make them our own. In the end, we provide a project of which everyone can be proud.
Turning Your Building Ideas Into Reality.
We realize that the major cost of any project is in construction. This may seem obvious, but Gontram Architecture keeps construction cost and how it can be minimized at the forefront of every project. We are experienced in all types of project delivery services, including the traditional design/bid/build. We often participate in the increasingly-popular design/build project delivery services with general contractors. In addition to being a licensed architect, Edmund J. Gontram III, AIA is a licensed general contractor and participates in construction projects through Ten Penny Construction, Inc. We have the resources available to meet or exceed expectations. Simply put, we tailor our delivery approach to suit the client’s needs.
In 2007, Edmund Gontram received accreditation as a LEED Accredited Professional (AP) from the U.S. Green Building Council. Since that time, Gontram Architecture has injected sustainable design elements into traditional projects, educated clients on the benefits of green construction, and worked to reduce waste in the built environment. Gontram Architecture continues this endeavor on a daily basis. Several proposed LEED projects are currently in design, and other non-LEED projects are benefitting from that experience.
Gontram Architecture, Inc. possesses vast and extended experience in many different areas of architectural design. Our office in Raleigh, North Carolina gives us access to projects throughout North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, and other states along the eastern seaboard. Edmund J. Gontram, III, AIA holds architectural licenses in North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Tennesee and Virginia. We are NCARB certified which allows us license reciprocity in 47 states. Gontram Architecture, Inc. was incorporated in 2002.
Gontram Architecture, Inc. utilizes REVIT and AutoCAD software titles from Autodesk, and office software from Microsoft, making it easy and efficient to exchange data with clients and consultants. We perform routine backups to ensure data integrity. We use this web site to keep clients, contractors and subcontractors informed of a project’s progress.
To assist with Cost Control, cost estimates are developed at the completion of each design stage to verify project budgets. We are highly skilled in this aspect and pride ourselves on our accuracy. If at any time during design, the estimate should exceed the Owner’s available funds, we can suggest alternatives to bring the project’s cost back within an acceptable range.
Cost control during construction is extremely important and can only be accomplished by careful preparation of the construction documents and attentiveness during the construction phase. All proposed change orders are meticulously examined prior to approval. Costs are researched and verified. No additional costs are approved without careful review and documentation.
Gontram Architecture, Inc. possesses the talents and skill required to fulfill your needs. We have experience working with various types of clients from major corporations to small businesses, from county and state governments to major universities. We have experience designing major multi-million dollar projects as well as small renovations. We pride ourselves on getting the job done right, on time and within budget. We’d like to help you.
